CHAPTER 04 LOCATION FLASH WITH BACKLIGHT

THE SETUP

We’re doing a formal bridal portrait here on location in a church. I’m using one of my go-to lenses for shooting weddings, which is an 85mm set at a low-numbered f-stop to make the background out of focus behind our subject. I started by lighting our bride with just one flash, but then added a second flash on a short light stand directly behind her to create a glow or pool of light around her.
