Linear switched reluctance motors (L-SRMs) are counterparts of rotary switched reluctance motors [1, 2, 3]. The finite length of their magnetic circuit along the direction of motion introduces, for a small number of poles, some longitudinal static effects (asymmetries between phases). Also, the normal force has its peculiarities with L-RSM, but other than that, the theory developed for rotary SRMs may be adapted easily for linear SRMs.
