It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

With Linux, in many cases, you can manage a single server, or even a small set
of servers, by using built-in Linux tools. A production environment, however, often
has
multiple Linux servers, assigned to perform different functions (Web serving,
FTP serving, mail serving, file serving, and more).
