Just before Christmas, I was walking through Belfast city center for some shopping. While I waited to cross a road junction, a parked delivery van caught my eye. The clean, simple logo on the side just a wordmark, but there was something about the spacing, color choice, and confidence of it that I appreciated. Seconds later a van with vehicle graphics on the side turned the corner, closely followed by a bus covered in advertising and a cyclist in a branded jacket. Inside shop windows, in the signage above, the bag in my hand, the art on the walls, a fellow pedestrian’s coffee cup—logos were everywhere.
