So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
ZooKeeper metrics
Production Hadoop and YARN clusters are always configured with High Availability in mind. ZooKeeper plays an important role in a High Availability deployment. ZooKeeper continuously monitors the master daemon and triggers the replacement of the master daemon if it fails. Both YARN and HDFS High Availability are managed via ZooKeeper. Let's look into a few important metrics of Zookeeper:
- zk_num_alive_connections: This metric represents the number of clients connected to ZooKeeper. The number generally does not change dynamically and remains static. If the number drops, it is recommended that you check the dropped client check logs to detect the reason and fix it, as it is most likely a connection or network issue.
