Installing the Hyper-V role

Windows Server 2008 has been highly modularized when compared to previous versions of Windows Server. The modularization has resulted in the definition of distinct roles that can be separately installed without affecting any other role on the system.

Master It

Install the Hyper-V role on a Windows Server 2008 Full installation.

Solution

1. Click Start, and then click Server Manager.

2. In the Roles Summary area of the Server Manager main window, click Add Roles.

3. The Before You Begin page comes up. Click Next to continue to the next step in the wizard.

4. On the Select Server Roles page, click Hyper-V.
