File Services provide users working on computers from various locations with the ability to access corporate files needed for their everyday work and to access different types of documents. Over the years and different Windows Server versions, File Services have evolved in order to provide better performance, productivity, and availability for organizations. In Windows Server 2016, File Services are included in all editions, including GUI, Server Core, and Nano Server. Depending on the Windows Server edition, File Services can be installed by using the Server Manager console or Windows PowerShell.
