Preface
Every transformation stalls in the same place. Not in the model. Not in the code. But in the gap between what technology delivers and what organizations are ready to believe.
I call this the Alignment Gap—the pause between insight and action.
For more than two decades inside some of the world’s most complex and highly regulated financial institutions, I had the privilege of seeing this pattern unfold again and again. We deployed intelligent systems into operations spanning thousands of employees and millions of transactions. We watched credit decisions get redefined across global markets, reshaping billions in exposure. We traced process telemetry to uncover how work truly flowed across enterprises of tens of thousands. Each breakthrough was real. Each reinforced the same truth: technology can move first, but conviction does not always follow.

CFOs see it when pilots succeed but can’t be tied to operating margins. COOs face it when workflows stall in execution. CHROs sense it when trust is fragile but invisible.
And the cost is measurable. For a $100 million AI program, alignment can be the difference between creating $140 million in returns or only $70 million. Same spend. Same technology. A $70 million swing—determined not by algorithms but by alignment.
A small minority (~13%) of organizations prove ...
