7.6. Other Players

Depending on your organization, you may have other teams or groups involved in various stages of your NAC decision-making process:

• Telecommunications: If your organization has equipped most users with BlackBerries, Treos, iPhones, or other mixed telecommunications and wireless access devices, or if the organization uses only Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phones, you should (or will need to) include the telecommunications team at some point in the NAC solution decision process.

• LAN and wireless networking: Your organization may have split its networking team into LAN and wireless groups, each of which you want to involve in the NAC solution process or decision.

• A third party: Sometimes, organizations decide that they want to include a third-party organization — an integrator or a value-added reseller (VAR), for example — in the NAC solution process because the organization trusts this third-party company and values their input about technology products and their adoption.

• Access: If you have an access team, get them involved in the NAC evaluation and decision process, as well as the deployment of the selected NAC solution.

• Remote access: Your organization might have a granular approach to access control. For example, you might have a remote access team that's responsible for user and guest remote access, as well as remote security for the organization's network.
