This chapter is separated into two sections:
Chapters 2, “Copper Media,” and 3, “Fiber Optic Media,” described the behavior and testing techniques for copper and fiber optic media separately, as the behavior of electrons and photons in a network cable are quite different. This chapter addresses them separately, but because networks incorporate both media types, the troubleshooting of media is combined into this single chapter.
