Chapter 1. What Is Baselining
With the onset of the new millennium, networking has entered a new era. Network stability, reliability, and performance is a must. It is our mission. We, as network analysts, have a clear charter. We must use our inherent and finely developed skills of abstract-geared network astronomy to systematically view network point-to-point dataflow and then to analyze complex network communication sequencing. In this process, we must extract accurate metrics to surgically expose "real-world" issues that affect our network's operation and performance. We must then closely review the extracted issues to develop a concise technical synopsis supported by a clear-cut recommendation.
