When performing a network baseline study on a wide area network (WAN), an analyst must be properly prepared with the necessary WAN documentation prior to beginning the study.
The WAN documentation that should be compiled prior to performing a WAN network baseline study should include WAN layout diagrams, WAN router configuration specifics, WAN networking configuration sheets for equipment such as DSU and CSU connectivity devices, and WAN carrier circuit information. Specific notations for addressing schemes between LAN sites interconnected through the WAN should also be included in the documentation.
