Transformer tappings A speaker with a particular wattage
tapping will take the same power and deliver the same sound
output from the 100 V line output of any amplifier irrespective
of its power rating. The only difference is that a large power
amplifier will supply more speakers than a small one. Higher
volume can be obtained by increasing the power tapping on the
speaker transformer. Note that a 100 V speaker tapping will
take about half the power when operated from a 70 V line.
Care must be taken that all connections to the transformers are
phased so that all speakers working in the same area are in
phase.
