RecordSets
Much of what you do with databases will involve recordsets. As you learned earlier in the chapter, a recordset is represented by the ADODB Recordset object. In essence, a recordset lets you extract a subset of the data in a database table. A simple example would be a recordset that extracts from an address list table all those records where the STATE field is “California.” The rules that determine which records are extracted to a recordset are called the criteria. With few exceptions, criteria are specified using SQL. Before getting to the details of recordsets, let's look at the basics of SQL.
