The main body of this book is designed to help one manager onboard one new employee. This appendix recaps our ideas about how to make an organization-wide transformation to more effective onboarding that gets all new employees up to speed in half the time and strengthens an organization’s culture.
When you implement all of the ideas presented in the chapter “Master Class” callouts, and more and more hiring managers implement Total Onboarding Programs in the same organization, successes compound. Performance results and standards rise across the organization, which evolves the culture in a very positive way.
Let’s recap the Master Class ideas:
Look at overall organizational messaging on an annual basis as part of your normal succession planning and talent management processes. Get all employees aligned around the overall messaging that they will cascade down in their own Total Onboarding Programs. This annual messaging review increases consistency across individual messages and gives everyone a chance for deliberate practice to build knowledge and skills in crafting and critiquing messaging.
Embed onboarding in your normal succession planning and talent management processes.
