Chapter 7The Three Speaking Contexts
I had been asked to speak at a business mastermind workshop in Southern California. It was a group of about 15 entrepreneurs who were interested in selling from the stage. The leader of the group approached me and asked if I could share my expertise for an hour or so to help her mastermind members become more successful at selling from their webinars and in-person presentations.
In preparation for this event, I considered the challenges and opportunities these mastermind members faced. I spoke with the group leader and asked if it would be appropriate to make a unique offer for those who resonated with the content and wanted to work more deeply. The leader liked the idea of putting together something special for members who were serious about mastering this area.
When I walked into the room, it was light and bright, and people were obviously enjoying the experience. I spoke for about 60 minutes, and at the end, I shared a special offer I'd created just for the group. I handed out forms to the group members and said, “If you're interested in taking this offer, please give it to me or your leader by the end of the mastermind experience.” A few people instantly gave me their forms and expressed their excitement about going deeper.
After answering some questions, I left feeling like the experience was a real win for all of us. Three days later, when the event had concluded, I received a text from the leader saying, “Are you ready for this?” ...
