If you are accustomed to working with Oracle Forms Services (Oracle Forms applications running on the Web), the HTTP web application communication mechanism may seem a bit foreign and complex. However, communications within Oracle Forms Services uses the same HTTP request and response steps, as well as the same application server (Oracle Application Server), as J2EE web applications. Although it is not useful at this point to fully explain the process and communications path for an Oracle Forms application running on the Web, a brief description should provide a further understanding of the HTTP mechanisms explained in this chapter.
