This part of the book contains introductory information about parallel processing and why it’s important in an Oracle environment. It consists of the following chapters:
Chapter 1, introduces the concept of parallel processing, explains its potential performance advantages, and describes the Oracle parallel technologies.
Chapter 2, describes the main parallel architectures: Symmetric Multiprocessing (SMP), Massively Parallel Processing (MPP), clusters, and Non Uniform Memory Architectures (NUMA).
