This part of the book describes the Oracle Parallel Server (OPS) product and describes how to create and manage OPS databases. It consists of the following chapters:
Chapter 6, describes the overall architecture of the product and how OPS instances coordinate activities against a single database.
Chapter 7, explains what you need to know about creating and managing an OPS database.
Chapter 8, describes the locking mechanisms that are fundamental to Oracle Parallel Server operations.
Chapter 9, explains how to use free lists and other memory structures to optimize performance in OPS.
Chapter 10, discusses how you can get the best performance out of OPS.
Chapter 11, describes application, data, and transaction partitioning techniques for OPS.
Chapter 12, discusses how you can use Oracle Parallel Server to support high availability.
Chapter 13, describes how you can combine both sets of Oracle’s parallel features by using parallel execution in OPS environments.
