Your job as a Streams administrator does not end after you successfully configure the Streams replication environment. In fact, configuring Streams replication may seem like the easy part of the job after you discover what you must do to manage and monitor the Streams environment. Although this important task may seem daunting when you first read about, it is not much more difficult than the configuration task.

This chapter discusses how to manage and monitor Streams processes, and how to measure Streams replication performance using Oracle-supplied PL/SQL packages and procedures. Use of OEM Grid Control to do the same is discussed in Chapter 14.
