This chapter covers both the use of Event Messaging in a PacketCable network and the lawful intercept requirement that is mandatory for service providers.
In a PacketCable 1.x network, Event Messaging can be used to collect accounting information on phone calls. In a PacketCable Multimedia (PCMM) network, Event Messaging can be used to track distributed quality of service (DQoS) resource use for any type of multimedia session.
