So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Summary
We extended FtpView to demonstrate retrieving
host information by name and address and retrieving service
information by name. We used a network resource for the first time.
Hostname resolution depends on servers to provide DNS services; the
Palm OS protocol stack does not support local hosts files.
In this chapter, we learned about host naming conventions and the rules for IP addresses. We explored the Palm OS Net Library functions that provide support for host and service resolution. We learned how to identify and locate a host on the network. In the next chapter, we connect with that host.
