Ms. Clarena Tolson currently serves as streets commissioner of the City of Philadelphia, a major public works agency consisting of five divisions: sanitation, highway, traffic engineering, street lighting, and administration. In this position, she oversees more than 2,100 employees with an annual operating budget of $147 million. I had the fortune to see her in a Women in Leadership panel discussion at Wharton, where she had studied.
