John Donaldson is the training director of a medium-sized manufacturing firm in Central Pennsylvania. Yesterday the plant manager, Harold Rexalt, paid him a short visit. It seems that the plant manager had just attended a conference and was told in a conference session that many manufacturing plants were experiencing dramatic results by converting their training departments to performance consulting departments.
