Why It's Worth a Photograph
Saints Peter and Paul Church is a Roman Catholic Church in San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood, located (somewhat ironically) at 666 Filbert Street. Known as the "Italian Cathedral of the West," this building is very unusual in that the parish school is situated atop the church around its clerestory level and is accessible from stairways under each of its twin towers. The church, with its twin spires that soar almost 200 feet into the sky, was completed in 1924. For over a century, the church of Saints Peter and Paul has served parishioners and tourists who visit it daily, and it is an icon to the members of the North Beach community. The church's beautiful Italian-inspired architecture stands tall in a section of San Francisco known for its culture and people, and it makes a monumental photo for any enthusiast.
