So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

As the overall query costs go up exponentially and the number of joins increases, controlling that complexity is a major component to both query tuning and to ongoing improvement in the PostgreSQL optimizer. The differences between a sequential scan or using an index on a table will be magnified, as those results are then joined to additional tables.
