Professional Microsoft® SharePoint® Designer 2007
by Woody Windischman, Bryan Phillips, Asif Rehmani
14.5. Summary
This chapter showed you how to take your SharePoint client-side programming to the next level with the Web Part Page Services Component. You learned about the communications framework, and how to find some of the buried goodies in the SharePoint system. Here are some key points to take away:
The WPSC features are loosely organized into a set of services.
Web Part properties are kept in the SharePoint content database.
Changes you make to the Properties collection are not permanent until you use the save method.
The next few chapters take you outside the box of SharePoint Designer, and introduce some of the ways you can use Visual Studio to enhance not only SharePoint Designer through add-ins and workflow elements, but SharePoint itself with completely custom Web Parts.
