16.4. Testing Your Web Part
To test your custom Web Part, open SharePoint Designer and navigate to your SharePoint site by selecting File
Open Site, entering the URL to your SharePoint site in the Site name text box of the Open Site dialog, and clicking OK. Open the Default.aspx page (see Figure 16-12) by double-clicking it. If the Web Parts task pane is not visible, open the task pane by choosing Task Panes
Web Parts from the menu bar. Once the task pane is displayed (Figure 16-12), click Next until CustomizedFilesWebPart is displayed in the list.

To add the Web Part to the page, drag the Web Part from the task pane and drop it into one of the Web Part Zones on the page. Web Part Zones are the locations on the page where Web Parts can be added and positioned. They have labels above them describing their relative position on the page. In Figure 16-13, the two Web Part Zones are named Left and Right. Your page should look like Figure 16-13 in SharePoint Designer.
