Epilogue
As reviewed in Chapter 1, the Juran Trilogy of quality management systems (QMS) comprises three main pillars: 1) quality planning, 2) quality control, and 3) continuous improvement. Among these three pillars, quality control is conventional, and continuous improvement is an active practice in industries. However, as the proactive pillar, quality planning often is not given enough attention in practice. In this book, I have concisely presented most aspects of quality planning from a quality system standpoint.
There are numerous opportunities in the development and implementation of the principles and approaches to quality planning. In the real world, every situation can be different, so one would need to be adaptive when applying quality planning principles and approaches. In teaching my graduate quality planning class, I encourage everyone to try something creative for each application, based on the principles and approaches learned. Through innovative quality planning, quality professionals can set a high level of product and service quality going forward in the future.
I wish readers continued success and enjoyment on their quality management journey!
