Introdução
Neste capítulo, aprenderás a arte da rectangulação de dados, pegando em dados que são fundamentalmente hierárquicos, ou semelhantes a árvores, e convertendo-os numa estrutura de dados retangular composta por linhas e colunas. Isto é importante porque os dados hierárquicos são surpreendentemente comuns, especialmente quando trabalhas com dados provenientes da Web.
Para aprenderes sobre rectângulos, tens de aprender primeiro sobre listas, a estrutura de dados que torna possíveis os dados hierárquicos. Depois, vais aprender sobre duas funções cruciais do tidyr: tidyr::unnest_longer() e tidyr::unnest_wider(). Em seguida, vamos mostrar-te alguns casos de estudo, aplicando estas funções simples uma e outra vez para resolver problemas reais. Terminaremos falando sobre JSON, a fonte mais frequente de conjuntos de dados hierárquicos e um formato comum para a troca de dados na Web.
Pré-requisitos
Neste capítulo, vamos utilizar muitas funções do tidyr, um membro central do tidyverse. Também usaremos o repurrrsive para fornecer alguns conjuntos de dados interessantes para a prática de rectangulação, e terminaremos usando o jsonlite para ler ficheiros JSON em listas R.
