Robin Williams Design Workshop, second edition
For the cover design of the first edition of Robin Williams Design Workshop, I used a simplistic, non-intimidating design approach.
We wanted something shockingly stark and simple that would stand out among other design book covers that have colorful, complex, montage illustrations on the cover. The montage design approach can be beautiful and effective, but we wanted something bold and different that wouldn’t be intimidating to aspiring designers.
The result was a cover with straightforward, utilitarian typography that incorporated a giant letter D to illustrate the technique of using extreme contrast of both size and color for visual impact.
