It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

3.1 Where to begin. . .
How do you choose an SNG system? For new users, this can be a bewildering decision with a large array of specifications and features to consider. Apart from the obvious requirement for digital operation, the other major defining parameters are whether it should be a ‘suitcase’ compact terminal, ‘traditional’ fly-away or a vehicle-based system, and whether C- or Ku-band. With development of ‘compact’ newsgathering terminals, there is also the option of choosing an Inmarsat system, which is particularly appropriate for a certain type of newsgathering. Although only briefly discussed in this chapter, Inmarsat systems are fully covered in Chapter 6.
