Spectrum analyzer operation and its use to locate satellites
Connection of the spectrum analyzer
As we have described previously, the feedhorn/OMT of the antenna is also connected to a satellite receiver, via the LNB (Low Noise Block downconverter), so that the uplink operator is able to view signals received from the satellite.
By connecting the spectrum analyzer into the system at the output of the LNB, pointing the antenna toward the satellite arc, and then making careful adjustments in elevation and azimuth the operator can find the desired satellite. In the following description, we are assuming Ku-band frequency and linear polarization.
