Chapter 4. Smart Antennas Techniques for CDMA
Chapter 3 provided an overview of smart antenna technology that can be applied to a broad range of wireless systems. In this chapter, we turn our focus to implementing smart antennas for Direct Sequence CDMA (DS-CDMA) systems and examine some of the challenges involved in applying smart antennas to CDMA. Then, in Chapter 5, we study the impact of smart antenna systems on CDMA link range and system capacity.
Spatial filtering at the CDMA Base Station Receiver can take many forms, as illustrated by the diagram in Figure 4-1. The different structures offer different combinations of complexity and performance.
