Abstract
The deployment of smart sensors for environmental monitoring in Industry 4.0 is a rapidly growing area of research with the potential to revolutionize industrial systems. In this chapter, we provide an overview of the state-of-the-art techniques for deploying smart sensors for environmental monitoring in Industry 4.0 environments and their potential to enhance the health and safety of workers and the sustainability of industrial systems. We explore various applications of smart sensors for monitoring temperature, humidity, air quality, noise pollution, and other environmental factors that impact the health and safety of workers in industrial settings. We also discuss the challenges associated with deploying smart sensor networks, such as data acquisition, data processing, data management, and data visualization. Additionally, we examine the potential of integrating smart sensor networks with other data sources, such as remote sensing and satellite data, to enhance the accuracy and reliability of environmental monitoring in industrial systems. We also explore the ethical and legal implications of using ...
