When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Setting up a development environment
To crystalize microservices' concepts, a couple of microservices will be built. For that, it is assumed that the following components are installed:
- JDK 1.8 (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html)
- Spring Tool Suite 3.8.2 (STS) (https://spring.io/tools/sts/all)
- Maven 3.3.1 (https://maven.apache.org/download.cgi)
Alternately, other IDEs like IntelliJ IDEA/NetBeans/Eclipse could be used. Similarly, alternate build tools like Gradle can be used. It is assumed that Maven repository, class path, and other path variables are set properly for running STS and Maven projects.
