Definitions

A few key terms that a data scientist must be aware of since they may affect how classification is approached, are:

• Confidential data typically represents any data classified as restricted and is often used interchangeably with sensitive data

• A Data Steward is usually a senior-level resource whose responsibilities include the overseeing of the life cycle of one or more sets of data to be classified

• A Hyperplane subspace; an n-dimensional Euclidean space is a flat, n to a one-dimensional subset of that space that divides the space into two disconnected parts

• Feature selection is the act of selecting a subset of relevant features (variables, predictors) for use in the construction of a statistical model
