By training I am a historian, by profession, a journalist. Sumantra started out as a manager, working for almost a decade in India’s biggest oil company, Indian Oil Corporation, before becoming a teacher of managers. Our research styles reflected our very different backgrounds, leading to several early clashes when we began writing case studies together. I would always want to dig more, explore further around issues, request one more round of interviews.
