The final case study takes us almost back to our starting point in Singapore, to the island of Penang, which lies just off the west coast of peninsular Malaysia. Menara UMNO is a 21-storey, 16 700m2 floor area, commercial development in Georgetown, the capital of the state of Penang.
Situated on a 1920m2 site at the junction of Jalan Macalister and Jalan Zainal Abidin in a predominantly shop house district (Figure 18.1), it is some 500m west of the 50-storey KOMTAR Tower with its surrounding department stores.
