Generally (we hope), when you set out to create a composite, you do so with the intention that it will be viewed via some specific medium. Whether you are providing images for broadcast video, a website, video games, or a feature film, you will need to have information about what the specific requirements are for that medium. In other words, you will need to know about the format that is being used.
