Layout and Structure

A typographic composition, or layout, consists of typographic elements arranged within a spatial field. The elements must all work together harmoniously to create a balanced composition. This balance can be achieved in a number of ways.

THE FOUNDATION: SPACE

Space is the area in which all of the elements sit. Project specifications place physical limitations on the space, the main one being size, which is the area the design occupies. The elements that are a part of the design must support the message and work well together within the given space.
