Context
This is an attempt to pen my views on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the medical technology industry. With medical technology being immensely diverse and spanning from a simple gauze dressing or syringe to complex remote robots that perform the intricate intravascular repair of the arteries in the heart or that disinfect hospitals, it is difficult to monolithically describe the pandemic's impact on the industry, and hence I must limit this piece to that constraint of generality.
