4 If the ring is continuous with no interconnections, all sockets
will give the same reading. Spurs give a higher reading.
5 Should an interconnection exist, sockets beyond that intercon-
nection will show a significantly different value. Hence the fault
can be located without the systematic removal of all the socket
fronts which would be needed with other methods of testing.
