The previous chapter on new applications of BGP introduced several concepts that should be explored before moving on to exploring the Application Layer of TCP/IP. The rise of data centers, which we saw as CLOS networks leaf-and-spine and TOR architectures, as well as the need to make the global public Internet more flexible for business applications, has led to the creation of technologies that go far beyond best-effort, hop-by-hop routing. This part, new to the Second Edition, gathers all of the MPLS- and VPN-related material into one section.
• Chapter 19—MPLS and IP Switching
• Chapter 20—MPLS-Based Virtual Private Networks
• Chapter 21—EVPN and VXLAN
