The Aftermath

No One Asked for This

It’s all over, it went better than you hoped, and there’s a list of 20 things you’d do better next time. You are offered a drink and accept gratefully; several people want to talk to you. You need a strategy for handling all this.

First, about those things that didn’t go the way you wanted: file them away and shut up about them. No one wants to know about that, and most of them are only in your head.

Second, you need to deal quickly with all those clamoring for your attention. This is the bit the extroverts love, but we introverts find it a bit of a challenge. My personal strategy is to have a pile of business cards for a quick swap and then to announce which part of the venue I will be in after ...
