Just as human beings evolve as they enter different stages in life, franchisees also evolve as they enter different stages in business. In fact, franchisees move through five distinct stages in linear order: The Launch, The Grind, Winning, The Zone, and The Exit (as shown in the following image). Each stage is marked by changes in franchisees’ results and satisfaction level.
This chapter helps you identify each stage and gives you proven strategies to accelerate through your learning curve. It is one of the most important chapters in this book – one I recommend you reread, mark up, and keep referring back to. I discuss how franchisees’ KASH (knowledge, attitude, skills, and habits, as discussed in Chapter 4) fluctuate in each stage. I also show you how to help the franchisor tailor their support to your specific needs in each stage.
