Toward the end of 2019, Women at Work cohost Amy Gallo and I visited Olin College of Engineering in Massachusetts. Olin’s student body is slightly over half female—an extraordinary gender ratio for an engineering program. We were there to hear from two seniors, Ana and Elena, who would soon enter a workforce that was far less equal and far more inhospitable. We wanted to ask them what sort of support they had gotten in school that they hoped to receive in their jobs and how they envisioned their futures.
