Things can get so screwy in Windows that Microsoft had to come up with a nonscrewy way of running the PC. I preferred the term nonscrewy mode, but the engineers in Redmond came up with “safe mode” instead. You can use this mode to diagnose problems, perform troubleshooting, and run a special utility called System File Checker. The goal is to fix Windows problems in a sane and safe manner.
