So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
gpaint
If the GIMP comes across as a bit overwhelming for you, or if it seems to be overkill for your simpler tasks, you might want to try out an application known as gpaint (or GNU Paint), which you can download and install via Synaptic (search for gpaint). As you can see in Figure 14-11, gpaint is very similar to Windows Paint and MacPaint, and just as simple.
Once you have installed gpaint, you can run it by going to Applications ► Graphics ► GNU Paint.
