It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Hasta ahora, hemos hablado del agente de forma aislada. Una sola entidad que crea planes de manera autónoma, los ejecuta y reflexiona sobre estos procesos. Estos sistemas de un solo agente son los únicos responsables de alcanzar el objetivo inicial sin interactuar con otros sistemas inteligentes que no sean humanos. Por muy poderosas que puedan llegar a ser estas entidades por sí solas, un sistema en el que varios agentes trabajan juntos para alcanzar un objetivo común tiene aún más potencial. Se trata del sistema multiagente (MAS), que puede incluir uno o más entornos en los que muchos agentes, algunos diferentes de otros, pueden interactuar entre sí.
Cada agente en un sistema así tendrá un nivel de autonomía, pero puede contar con diferentes conjuntos de herramientas, (sub)objetivos o incluso personalidades. Sin importar sus posibles diferencias, estos agentes tendrán que colaborar para alcanzar objetivos comunes usando sus propias habilidades. Los sistemas multiagente son muy hábiles para manejar tareas intrincadas que requieren equilibrar múltiples dependencias complejas.
